This sketch was done after reading the novel Ysabel by Guy Gavriel Kay. At first I tried drawing her face as it is shown on the books cover, I liked the way it turned out except for a few small things, like it not quite looking like an ancient statue, then I thought to try and draw a statue’s body which was much easier for it to look more statue like than her face.

  1. Hey, I finally figured out how to leave comments. I just signed up for a wordpress account. :) I am so glad you read Ysabel. I thought it was very good, even moreso because some characters from his previous books appear. Now go and get that sketch back up there!

  2. Carde! you are my first comment :) I was surprised and happy to see that you were able to post.

Thank you so much again for introducing me to Guy Gavriel Kay’s works. I loved reading Ysabel and wished it had not ended so quickly.

I reposted the sketch, I am not sure though if it is the way I wished it, but it was nice to practice proportions with. I must learn how to draw fingers too.

  3. I think it looks very nice! Drawing fingers I think is hard for everyone, but its no different than drawing anything in the end. Just practice, practice, practice. :) Hope to see you soon!

  4. :)! so funny Dovelove :). This came about after reading Ysabel, by Guy Gavriel Kay. For some reason I think you would really enjoy reading this novel as well, if you do, you must let me know how you liked it.
